MydearMissWordsworth—Ithankyou，mykindfriend，foryourmostfortableletter.TillIsawyourownhandwriting，IcouldnotpersuademyselfthatIshoulddowelltowritetoyou，thoughIhaveoftenattemptedit，butIalwaysleftoffdissatisfiedwithwhatIhadwritten，andfeelingthatIwasdoinganimproperthingtointrudeuponyoursorrow.Iwishedtotellyou，thatyouwouldonedayfeelthekindofpeacefulstateofmind，andsweetmemoryofthedeadwhichyousohappilydescribeasnowalmostbegun，butIfeltthatitwasimproper，andmostgratingtothefeelingsoftheafflicted，tosaytothemthatthememoryoftheirafflictionwouldintimebeeaconstantpartnotonlyoftheir"dream，butoftheirmostwakefulsenseofhappiness."Thatyouwouldseeeveryobjectwith，andthroughyourlostbrother，andthatthatwouldatlastbeearealandeverlastingsourceofforttoyou，Ifelt，andwellknewfrommyownexperienceinsorrow，buttillyouyourselfbegantofeelthisIdidnotdaretellyouso，butIsendyousomepoorlineswhichIwroteunderthisconvictionofmind，andbeforeIheardColeridgewasreturninghome.IwilltranscribethemnowbeforeIfinishmyletter，lestafalseshamepreventmethen，forIknowtheyaremuchworsethantheyoughttobe，writtenastheywerewithstrongfeelingandonsuchasubject.Everylineseemstometobeborrowed，butIhadnobetterwayofexpressingmythoughts，andIneverhavethepowerofalteringoramendinganythingIhaveoncelaidasidewithdissatisfaction.
